8 मार्च, अन्तरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस... (दिन स्वयं को पहचानने का) 

   

बचपन में मुझसे पूछा जाता था कि मेरे नाम का अर्थ क्या है और मैं बस झेंप के मुस्कुरा देती और चुपचाप चली जाती थी। हमारे पड़ोस के एक अंकल अध्यापक थे और मुझे अमूमन चिढ़ाते भी थे कि मेरी सभी बहनों के नाम का अर्थ बहुत ही सुंदर है लेकिन 'रीना' नाम का कोई अर्थ नहीं होता है। मुझे थोड़ा बुरा भी लगता था कि मेरी बहनों के इतने सुंदर नाम है लेकिन मेरा नाम अच्छा नहीं है। उस समय भी मैं यही सोचती थी कि इसका मतलब आखिर होता क्या है बस एक यही ख्याल आता था कि उस समय एक प्रसिद्ध अभिनेत्री का नाम 'रीना रॉय' था शायद इसीलिए मेरा नाम भी उन्हीं के नाम पर रख दिया होगा। उस समय 'गूगल बाबा' भी तो हर जगह उपलब्ध नहीं थे, या यह कहें कि गूगल तक पहुँचने की हमारी क्षमता भी नहीं थी। आज तो बच्चे के नामकरण में पंडित जी के बताने से पहले ही गूगल से नाम और उसका अर्थ दोनों पूछ लिए जाते है। नामकरण तो दूर की बात है, अब तो बच्चे के जन्म से पहले ही गूगल का सहारा ले लिया जाता है। 

    अब जब समय इतना आगे बढ़ गया है तो समय के साथ अब तो मेरे नाम के भी अनेकों अर्थ पता चल गए हैं, कोई गीत बोलता है तो कोई घुलित तो कोई रीना का अर्थ रत्न बताता है। लेकिन अब मैं जिस अर्थ को मानती हूँ वो है, 'नारी'। रीना नाम के अक्षरों को अगर आगे पीछे पलट दें तो शब्द बनता है, नारी और शायद इससे बेहतर अर्थ मुझे नहीं मिला जो मेरी पहचान को सार्थक करे। मैं ये तो बिल्कुल नहीं कहूंगी कि मैं पूरी नारी जाती का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हूँ, हाँ! लेकिन मैं अपना प्रतिनिधित्व नारी के रूप में ही करती हूँ। मुझे लगता है, नारी जो जननी है, नारी जो जीवन है, नारी जो त्याग है, नारी जो प्रेम है, खुशी है, स्नेह है, नारी जो शक्ति है, सम्मान है, वही मैं हूँ। अब इतने सारे भाव और सार लिए अगर नारी का उलट नाम भी मिल जाय तो मुझे उस पर भी गर्व ही है।  

     अब इसी खुशी को सभी महिलाएं अगर एक साथ मनाती हैं तो बस फिर तो कहना ही क्या! इसी खुशी की कड़ी में एक दिन और जुड़ गया है जो दुनिया में सभी महिलाओं को उनके स्वछंद और जागरूक दोनों होने का एहसास कराता है और वो है, अन्तरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस जो प्रतिवर्ष 8 मार्च को आता है। महिला दिवस मनाने का उद्देश्य महिलाओं को उनके अधिकारों के प्रति जागरूक करना है। 

    अच्छा है न! कम से कम वर्ष का एक दिन तो लोग नारी के प्रति प्यार और सम्मान के रूप में समर्पित करें, जिसमें उनके अधिकारों और विचारों को रखा जाए, समझा जाए, उनकी उपलब्धियों की प्रशंसा नहीं तो कम से कम गिना ही जाए। वैसे तो महिला दिवस का स्वरूप पहले महिला अधिकारों, महिला सशक्तिकरण के लिए था लेकिन अब महिला दिवस प्रेम और स्नेह स्वरूप भी हो गया है। कारण चाहे जो भी हो, लेकिन एक नारी होने के कारण अच्छा लगता है कि अन्य महिलाओं के साथ कम से कम एक दिन तो सिर्फ अपने नाम है, भले ही यह दिन भी अन्य दिनों की भाँति गुजर जाए।

     मेरे जैसी घर गृहस्थी वाली घरेलू महिलाओं के लिए ये दिन भी अन्य दिनों की तरह ही होता है, जहाँ दिन का आरंभ सुबह की चाय और रात रसोई को समेटते हुए गुजर जाती है, पूरा दिन घर, ऑफिस, रसोई, बच्चे, पढाई इन्हीं सब में कब बीत जाता है, पता ही नहीं चलता। हाँ, ये जरूर है कि इस दिन सहेलियों, बहनों और शुभचिंतकों के बधाई संदेशों से ही मन प्रफुल्लित हो जाता है और हम इसी खुशी के साथ अपना नारी दिवस भी मना लेते हैं। 

   सच में, हम महिलाएं भी कितनी छोटी छोटी चीजों में भी अपनी खुशी ढूंढ लेती हैं। इसकी अपेक्षा नहीं होती कि कोई दूसरा हमारा काम कर दे या कोई बहुत बड़ा ईनाम दे, बस थोड़ा बोल ही दे बहुत है, बोलना भी नहीं तो देख ही ले और अगर देखना भी नहीं हो तो बस मुस्कुरा ही दे, वही किसी पुरस्कार से कम नहीं होता। महिलाओं की खुशी इतनी छोटी भी होती है कि खाने की टेबल पर कोई एक रोटी अधिक खा ले तो उसमें भी आनंद ही आनंद और संतुष्टि मिल जाती है।
   कुछ ही दिनों के बाद 8 मार्च है यानी 'अंतरराष्‍ट्रीय महिला दिवस' है, जिसे दुनियाभर में एक उत्सव की भाँति मनाया जा रहा है। वैसे तो हमें कारण जानने में अधिक रुचि नहीं होती है फिर भी जिस उत्सव मनाने का सबसे पहला थीम (विषय) ही 'अतीत का जश्न, भविष्य की योजना' था, तो कुछ तो सोचना होता ही है कि अतीत में ऐसा क्या हुआ था कि महिला दिवस बनाया जाने लगा?? 

        इतिहास की बात करें तो भारत ही नहीं अपितु अमेरिका और यूरोप जैसे देशों में भी नारी की दशा बहुत अच्छी नहीं थी। उन्हें पुरुषों के समान अधिकार नहीं मिले थे। महिलाएं  सामाजिक, आर्थिक और राजनीतिक क्षेत्रों में पुरुषों से पिछड़ी हुईं थी, वेतन की असमानता के साथ साथ वोट देने का अधिकार भी नहीं था। इसीलिए 19वीं शताब्दी के आरंभ में नौकरीपेशा महिलाओं द्वारा खूब हड़ताल और आंदोलन किये गए, जिसमें वो अपने अधिकारों के लिए लड़ी और इन्ही आंदोलनों के फलस्वरूप महिला दिवस की भी शुरुआत हो गई।
     महिला दिवस एक प्रकार का विरोध था, आंदोलन था जिसका आरंभ अमेरिका में सन् 1908 में हो गया था जब वहाँ की लगभग 15000 महिलाएं सड़कों पर अपने हक के लिए आ गई थी। इसका श्रेय 1910 में 'क्लारा जेटकिन' को जाता है जिन्होंने कोपेनहेगन में अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाने का सुझाव दिया। हालांकि अमेरिका में तो 28 फरवरी 1909 में ही पहला महिला दिवस मनाया गया था जब वहाँ के किसी कपड़ो की फैक्ट्री की सभी महिला कर्मचारी हड़ताल पर चली गई थी।
   फिर 1911 में यूरोप के कुछ देश (ऑस्ट्रि‍या, डेनमार्क, जर्मनी, स्विटजरलैंड) की महिलाओं ने अपने अधिकारों के लिए आंदोलन और रैलियां की। उसके बाद इन देशों ने भी अंतरराष्‍ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाना आरंभ किया।
   रूस में महिलाओं ने प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान शांति की स्थापना के लिए फरवरी माह के अंतिम रविवार को पहला महिला दिवस मनाया। 1917 में एक बार फिर रूसी महिलाओं ने सम्राट निकोलस की सत्ता पलटने के लिए 'ब्रेड एंड पीस' नाम से हड़ताल आरंभ कर दी और परिणामस्वरूप अंतरीम सरकार ने मतदान का अधिकार भी दिया। जिस दिन हड़ताल आरंभ हुई, उस दिन रूसी जूलियन कैलेंडर में दिन था 23 फरवरी का लेकिन ग्रेगेरियन कैलेंडर के अनुसार यह दिन 8 मार्च को था। उसी के बाद से अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस 8 मार्च को मनाया जाने लगा। लेकिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने 1975 में आधिकारिक रूप से प्रति वर्ष 8 मार्च को अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाने की घोषणा की और 1996 से हर वर्ष एक नये विषय के साथ इसे मनाया जा रहा है।
   ये तो थी अन्य देशों की बात, अब जो हम भारत में हैं तो अपने देश में भी राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाया जाता है जो 13 फरवरी को होता है। इस दिन हमारे देश की
  'स्वर कोकिला', स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और कवयित्री जिन्हें 'नाइटेंगल ऑफ इंडिया' भी कहा जाता है सरोजिनी नायडू जी का जन्म हुआ था। 

    चूंकि महिला दिवस का उद्देश्य ही महिला अधिकारों और नारी उत्थान के लिए माना जाता रहा है और भारत देश की आजादी के समय से ही सरोजिनी नायडू जी ने स्त्रियों के अधिकारों और उनकी शिक्षा के लिए संघर्षरत रही थी इसीलिए उनकी 135वीं जयंती 13 फरवरी, 2014 पर राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस मनाए जाने की घोषणा भी हो गई। लेकिन भारत में अभी कम ही लोगों को पता है कि 8 मार्च के अलावा 13 फरवरी का दिन भी महिलाओं को समर्पित है। क्या करें! भारत जैसे देश में वैलेंटाइन डे का इतना महत्व हो गया है कि पूरा सप्ताह ही 'वैलेंटाइन वीक' को समर्पित कर दिया जाता है।
   एक और रोचक बात है, भारत में कुछ विशेष महिलावर्ग 10 मार्च को महिला दिवस मनाती है। इस दिन हमारे देश की पहली महिला शिक्षिका सावित्री बाई फुले का स्मृति दिवस होता है। 

     सावित्री बाई फुले ने स्त्री श‍िक्षा और अधिकारों के लिए कई प्रशंसनीय काम किये। इन्होंनें 1848 में पुणे शहर में देश का पहला बालिका विद्यालय खोला। सावित्री बाई ने सतीप्रथा, बाल या विधवा-विवाह, छुआछूत जैसी कुरीतियों पर अपनी आवाज उठाई और समाज की दलित नारी उत्थान के लिए विशेष योगदान दिया। 10 मार्च, 1897 को प्लेग के मरीजों की देखभाल करने के दौरान सावित्री बाई की मृत्यु हो गई थी इसीलिए इस वर्ग विशेष एवं अन्य महिलाएं भी उनकी स्मृति में 10 मार्च को महिला दिवस मनाती हैं।
    प्रत्येक देश, प्रत्येक समाज अपने अपने तरीके और कारण से महिला दिवस मनाता है लेकिन भारत में अभी भी स्वयं महिलाओं का ही एक बड़ा हिस्सा ऐसा है, जिसे न तो महिला दिवस का पता है और न ही इसका उद्देश्य। एक आम घरेलू भारतीय महिला के लिए तो जिस दिन प्यार और सम्मान मिल जाए, समझो उनका उसी दिन ही महिला दिवस बन जाता है।यहाँ महिलाओं की स्थिति ऐसी है कि एक नारी तो आसमान को छू रही है तो दूसरी किसी की कुदृष्टि या कुकर्मों को झेल रही है। एक आम भारतीय महिला होने के नाते बस यही चाहती हूँ कि सामाजिक मर्यादाएं तो हो लेकिन बंधन नहीं,  संस्कृति और संस्कार की परंपराएं तो हो लेकिन पुरानी रूढ़िवादी विचारधारा नहीं, हर क्षेत्र में लैंगिक समानता हो लेकिन दया की दृष्टि नहीं। काम तो कोई भी कर सकता है, बस उसके लिए समान भाव और सोच की जरूरत है। 

     8 मार्च को अंतरराष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस है और यह कई  देशों में एक उत्सव है, एक प्रकार का त्यौहार ही है और इस दिन के लिए मैं तो बस यही सोचती हूँ कि ये दिन भी बस फूल और बधाई संदेश तक ही सीमित न रहे। यह दिन हर एक नारी के लिए स्वयं को पहचानने का दिन बने जिसमें वह स्वयं में शक्ति, साहस और सम्मान का प्रतिबिंब देखे।

   As a child, I was asked what the meaning of my name and I just smiled and ran away. There was an Uncle who was teacher in our neighborhood and used to tease me that the name of all my sisters is very nice but the name 'Reena' does not have any meaning. I used to feel a little bad that my sisters have such beautiful names but my name is not good. At that time too, I used to think what it meant, but satisfied myself with the idea that a famous actress was named 'Reena Roy' at that time, perhaps that is why I would have the same named Reena. At that time, even Google Baba was not available everywhere, or to say that we did not even have the ability to access Google at home. Today, even before Panditji is told in the naming of the child, both the name and its meaning are asked to Google Baba. Naming is a distant thing, now even before the birth of the child, the help of Google Maharaj is taken.

   Now that the time has moved so much, over time, my names have also come to know many meanings, someone says Reena means a song, someone said dissolves, and some people say Reena's meaning is a gem. But the meaning I now accept is 'Naari (woman)'. If the letters of the name Reena are turned back and forth, then the word is formed, I have not found a better meaning for Naari (woman) and that would make my identity meaningful. I would not say that I represent the entire woman caste, yes! But I represent myself only as a woman. I think, woman who is mother, woman who is life, woman who is a sacrifice, woman who is love, happiness, affection, woman who is power, respect, I am that. Now if I get the opposite name of a woman with so many expressions and essence, then I am proud of that too.

   Now if all women celebrate this happiness together, then what to say! Another day has been added to this link of happiness which makes all the women in the world feel both self-conscious and aware and that is International Women's Day which comes on 8 March every year. The purpose of celebrating this is to make women aware of their rights. Is not it good! At least one day of the year should be devoted to women in the form of love and respect, in which their rights and ideas are kept, understood. It doesn't matter that their achievements are not praised but at least counted. Although the form of Women's Day was earlier for women's rights, women's empowerment, but now Women's Day has also become a form of love and affection. Whatever be the reason, but being a woman, it feels good that at least one day with other women has only its own name, even if this day also passes like other days.

     For a housewife like me, this day is also like other days, where the beginning of the day passes through morning tea and night covering the kitchen, the whole day at home, office, kitchen, children, studies are all these. I do not know when the whole day passes. Yes, it is definitely on this day that the heart gets elated with congratulatory messages from friends, sisters and well-wishers and we celebrate our Women's Day with this joy.

   In truth, we women also find our happiness in even the smallest things. It is not expected that someone else can do our work or someone will give a very big prize, just say a little thanks, it is enough, even if you do not speak, you can see it with love and if you do not see it then just smile, the same is not less than any award. The happiness of women is so small that if one eats more bread at the dinner table, then there is joy and satisfaction in it too.

   After a few days, 8 March is 'International Women's Day', which is being celebrated like a festival all over the world. Although we are not much interested in finding out the reason, yet the first theme (theme) of celebrating was 'Celebration of the past, planning for the future', then one has to think about what happened in the past so Women's Day started to be made ??

        Talking about history, the condition of women was not very good not only in India but also in countries like America and Europe. They did not get the same rights as men. Women lagged behind men in social, economic and political spheres, with inequality of pay and no right to vote. That is why in the early 19th century there were a lot of strikes and agitations by the employed women, in which she fought for her rights and these movements also led to the start of Women's Day.

     Women's Day was a kind of protest, a movement that started in America in 1908 when about 15,000 women came to the streets for their rights. The credit goes to 'Clara Jetkin' in 1910 who suggested to celebrate International Women's Day in Copenhagen. However, in the US, the first women's day was celebrated on February 28, 1909, when all the female employees of a clothing factory went on strike.

   Then in 1911, women from some countries of Europe (Austria, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland) agitated and rallied for their rights. After that these countries also started celebrating International Women's Day.

   Women in Russia celebrated the first Women's Day on the last Sunday of February to establish peace during the First World War. In 1917, once again Russian women started a strike called 'Bread and Peace' to overturn the power of Emperor Nicholas.

Every country, every society celebrates Women's Day in its own way and reason, but in India there is still a large proportion of women themselves who neither know the purpose of women nor its purpose. For a common Indian woman, the day that you get love and respect, consider that the same day becomes Women's Day. Here the situation of women is such that if one woman is touching the sky, then the other's misdeeds of another Is experiencing. Being a common Indian woman, all I want is social dignity but not bondage, culture and culture traditions but not the old orthodox ideology, gender equality in every field but not the vision of mercy. Anybody can do the work, just need the same sentiment and thinking.

   March 8 is International Women's Day and it is a celebration in many countries, a festival of sorts and for this day, I just think that these days should not be limited to flowers and greetings. This day should be a day for every woman to identify herself in which she will see a reflection of strength, courage and respect in herself.
